The Palm Beach Gardens City Counsel in October 2015 approved a site plan to build a state of the art facility to be called The Center for Intelligent Buildings located on Donald Ross Road by I95. Initially a 241,000 square ft office complex will be constructed with the potential for a 700,000 square ft campus facility. This facility will serve as a Showcase Headquarters for Carrier Corporation, an affiliate company of United Technologies Corporation. The facility will work to showcase new building technologies for fire safety, security, heating, air conditioning, building automation, elevator, escalator and refrigeration systems. The company will retain 70 existing local jobs and will create 380 new employment opportunities and the average annual pay for these employees will be $85,000. The project site is about 30 acres within the 99 acre Parcel B of the 681 acre Alton Planned Community Development. The goal is for the building to be LEED Platinum, the highest level of certification the US Green Building Council offers.
