If you’re thinking of becoming a Florida “Snow Bird” from the UK give me a call, Chris Ryder 561.818.3858. My wife grew up in the Windsor area and here family now “snow birds” from their to the Jupiter area. Why? Orlando get’s old real quick and getting back and for to the London area is SOOOO EASY from here. The Tri Rail is the “commuter train” in this area. This train goes from Mangonia Park (West Palm Beach), about 20 minutes away, and brings you right into (as in walk to the terminal) the Miami Airport where there are regular, direct, and cheap flights to/from the UK.
The area north of West Palm Beach is PERFECT. The beaches in Juno Beach and Jupiter are some of the best in Florida. This area is the “narrow spot” between the Bahamas and Florida where he Gulf stream tempers our winters. In Feb one can go to the beach in Juno/Jupiter but it gets cool very quickly as one goes north of here. That’s becasue this is the edge of the “sub tropical” zone. Like boating? This is the place with world class fishing just off the coast.
The whole area is built around servicing the core wealth of the US that has been vacationing here since the 1920’s when Henry Flagler developed it.
Like golfing? The options for Golf are endless in the area that was home to the PGA for decades in Palm Beach Gardens. Where else would one find a Jack Nicklaus signature course local and open to the public like North Palm Beach has?
Need some culture? West Palm Beach has that in places like the Kravis Center featuring world class cultural events for the Palm Beach crowd.
We also now have a high speed train, the Brightline, with a station in West Palm Beach with service south to Miami, or north to Orlando.
Want to travel from here? No problem. The Palm Beach International Airport is about 20 minutes away with non-stop service to just about anyplace you want to go. Jet Blue flies to places like New York and Boston for about $300 round trip. The Bahamas are just 50 (not a typo) miles away with regular flights. Or take one of the many cruises that leave from Fort Lauderdale, Miami or Cape Canaveral. Drive to Miami in about an hour and half, park, walk accross the street, and get on a cruise. It’s fantastic!
Travelers on a UK Visa waiver can be here for up to 90 days at a time with no problem. And visitors with a visa staying up to 6 months is no problem.
Why endure another winter in the UK? Florida awaits you!
